Interestingly, Johnny Has Gone For a Soldier appears to have originated in Ireland or Scotlant, and was applied to wars in both of those countries long before it became a common song of the American Revolution.

I also enjoy occasionally watching BYU's production, A More Perfect Union. It's a high quality production about the 1787 Constitutional Convention. It has decent acting and a good story line.Scott Hinrichshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11831447472339880148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10424035.post-59713363347621084412007-07-03T09:54:00.000-06:002007-07-03T09:54:00.000-06:00Liberty is one of my favorite PBS programs, and th...Liberty is one of my favorite PBS programs, and the James Taylor song accompanying it is a favorite song. May I suggest another program sometime for your viewing? "Rebels and Redcoats: How Britain Lost America" is an interesting contrary view, with the host paralleling the Revolutionary War with Vietnam and present-day (when it was made in 2003) American foreign policy.Brett Garnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05722225634447180698noreply@blogger.com
